GQ Wedding: our take on manly [budget] fashion

GQ recently published their primer for mens’ fashion at summer weddings. While we love their creativity and bold ideas, we don’t love the price tags on the featured fashions.

So, here is our own primer on manly fashion, using GQ’s ideas as a guide, and using our budget skills to save green.

Their first suggestion was to dress up a khaki suit with a bowtie and piped pocket square. While their suit and bowtie cost more than $500 together, we love this suit (flat-front pants, please) starting at $130 from JCPenney, and this bowtie for under $30 from Macy’s.

Their next suggestion is to where a powder blue shirt, which GQ tells us says, “I dance as slick as I dress.” We would have to agree.

At $265, we would have to say that this powder blue shirt isn’t as slick as we’d like. Our pick comes from Macy’s for less than $25.

Another one of GQ’s ideas is to use your business suit and dress it up with a stellar tie. This is the most budget friendly idea they have to share. We love it.

Nonetheless, the business suit they suggest comes at a hefty price—almost $1,600—and is paired with a tie costing nearly $50. Instead, we love this jacket and these pants from Forever21 Men for a total under $100. Then, add this $10 tie for a fun twist.
